Health boost afoot for workers

Posted October 3, 2008 07:19:00

Organisers are hoping hundreds of thousands of people swap their cars for walking shoes today for National Walk to Work Day.

Megan Collier from the Heart Foundation says businesses and individuals across Queensland are taking part.

She says having a dedicated day to walk to work is a good way to get more active.

"It's really trying to impress upon the community that we really need to try and leave the car at home if we possibly can, and the day is really about the health benefits of increasing physical activity but also about the environmental benefits of leaving the car at home," she said.
