Bulli Pass reopened

Posted October 3, 2008 08:14:00

Work on the Bulli Pass between Sydney and Wollongong has been completed and the road has been reopened to traffic in time for the long weekend.

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has completed essential road repairs, which included removing hazardous trees and rocks.

The work was delayed by approximately a week due to an industrial dispute between road workers and the New South Wales Government.

RTA spokesman Adam Berry says the road is now "much, much safer".

"The work that we did up there, while it's changed the look of the pass, is absolutely essential to stop things falling off the hill causing someone as serious injury or worse," he said.

Mr Berry says maintenance work was also carried out.

"While we had the pass closed we took the opportunity to upgrade some of the guardrails, the kerbing and the guttering and resurface the entire upper half of Bulli Pass," he said.
