Gunnedah industrial development promises jobs boost

Posted October 3, 2008 13:00:00

About 1,000 jobs could be created in Gunnedah under a proposal to build a large industrial complex on the town's outskirts.

A developer has approached council wanting to convert the 135 hectare site of a former abattoir into light and heavy industry lots.

Mayor Adam Marshall says a development application will be submitted to council soon.

"Well the potential is to have huge impact on our future in a positive way, but like anything it's not going to happen immediately," he said.

"It'll be a gradual thing and the community will grow and expand and adapt to that."
