Police 'get $250,000 drug tip-off'

Posted October 3, 2008 14:35:00

Police in northern New South Wales have seized over $250,000 in drugs after pulling over a car for a Random Breath Test (RBT).

Officers say they received a tip-off from the public and pulled the car over on the New England Highway near Glen Innes just after 2:30am AEST today.

New England Local Area Command Acting Inspector Laurie Cattell says three different types of drugs were found in the car, including "over a kilo of ecstasy tablets, over 30 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of cannabis".

He says the two people travelling in the car have been charged in relation to the drug find.

"A 30-year-old Sydney male and a 19-year-old Sydney female have been charged with numerous drug offences," he said.

They will appear in Inverell Local Court this afternoon.
