Posted October 6, 2008 08:24:00

The long wait is over for VCE students with end of year exams getting underway today.

Almost 86,000 students will sit at least one exam.

The Victorian Education Minister, Bronwyn Pike, says more than 6,000 students will sit the first round of exams, starting today, in performance and language, other than English.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to shine, to showcase their talent, and I certainly wish them all the best in the exam period," she said.
