Police air farm theft worries

Posted October 6, 2008 10:03:00

Victorian police are concerned about a continuing high rate of farm equipment thefts.

They say about $5 million worth of equipment was stolen from properties in Victoria last year.

Leading Senior Constable Terry Davies says machinery should be marked and locked away when it is not in use, or out-of-sight when it is being left for short periods.

"One of the problems we've been encountering is the amount of keys that are left in machinery doors and cabins that are left unlocked, those sorts of things," he said.
