Goat deaths spark dog owner warning

Posted October 6, 2008 11:15:00

Bega Valley Shire rangers are warning dog owners to secure their pets after two goats were attacked and killed near Eden.

The goats were mauled by a staffordshire terrier that lived on a neighbouring property.

When they were found, one was already dead and the other's injuries were so severe, it had to be put down.

That was also the fate of the dog, which was surrendered by its owner after being interviewed by council rangers.

The dog's owner was fined $550 and ranger John Flanagan says pet owners in urban and rural areas must ensure their pets are enclosed at all times.
