Taipans' Cattalini stood down for drink-driving

Posted October 7, 2008 09:18:00

Veteran basketballer Martin Cattalini has been suspended by his far north Queensland club, the Cairns Taipans, for drink-driving last weekend.

The National Basketball League star forward will not be travelling with the team to New Zealand today ahead of Thursday's match against the in-form Breakers.

The club has issued a statement saying it is unfortunate since Cattalini is a person of great character who made a serious misjudgment.

Cattalini has apologised to fans, sponsors and the club.
