Aged care group rejects Glenwood Gardens audit

Posted October 7, 2008 15:15:00

The association representing the non-profit aged care sector says an audit into the Glenwood Gardens nursing home is based on incomplete information.

Sanctions were imposed on Glenwood Gardens in Glen Innes by the Department of Aging because an independent audit found the residents were being exposed to serious risks.

However, Jill Pretty from Aged and Community Services Australia, which is representing Glenwood Gardens, has rejected the findings.

She says vital information was overlooked.

"For instance, they state in their report that residents who have difficulty swallowing have not been reviewed by a speech therapist and yet there are assessments in the residents file, completed by a speech therapist," she said.
