Far north Queensland police investigating the disappearance of a tourist near Cooktown say they will stop trapping crocodiles in the Endeavour River.

It has been more than a week since Arthur Booker, 62, went missing from the banks of the river.

Three crocodiles have been captured and checked for remains.

Further tests will be done on the other two crocodiles while one will be returned to the wild.
