G-G begins Sunraysia visit

Posted October 8, 2008 10:00:00

Governor-General Quentin Bryce begins a two-day visit to Sunraysia today.

Her Excellency is touring the Murray-Darling Basin to look at the impact of drought, visiting farms, schools and other sites of interest around Mildura, Red Cliffs, Nangiloc and Wentworth.

Ms Bryce will begin her Sunraysia duties this morning with an official welcome by Mayor John Arnold, who says he will be ensuring Ms Bryce sees positive aspects of the region as well as the effects of drought.

"We have an abundance of opportunities and we've just got to make sure that we solve these current problems by whatever to make sure that they continue," he said.
