Murder may be linked to second death: police

Posted October 8, 2008 13:09:00

Police investigating the murder of a 50-year-old man this week in north-west New South Wales say there may be a link with another death in the area.

Police found the man's body with serious head injuries at a Wilkinson Street property in Gunnedah on Monday about 10:00am AEDT.

Police have still not formally identified the victim.

Yesterday about 11:00am AEDT, police discovered the body of a 48-year-old man in a rear yard of a Railway Street property, at Curlewis, south of Gunnedah, but can not say if the death is suspicious.

Police say the men knew each other and both worked as labourers.

A 44-year-old Curlewis man remains in custody after being arrested late Monday night and police are now investigating if the two deaths are linked.

They are asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
