Socceroos wary of new Qatar threat

Posted October 9, 2008 08:43:00

The Socceroos say their recent wins over Qatar will count for nothing in next week's World Cup qualifier in Brisbane.

The Australians have scored six goals in their last two matches against Qatar.

But Socceroos defender Scott Chipperfield says the home side cannot afford to assume it will be an easy game.

"It's a new game, they've got a new coach - I'm sure they're motivated, they know how we play as well so it's a difficult game," he said.

"There's a lot at stake, they're on top of the group at the moment so it's important for us playing at home that we need to get the three points."
