Funds boost for Tathra Surf Club

Posted October 9, 2008 13:19:00

A surf club on the New South Wales far south coast is a step closer to creating a high quality community facility after receiving nearly $26,000 from the State Government.

Tathra Surf Club has run out of room.

The rescue boats, boards, tractors and other equipment used to save lives are crammed into a tiny gear shed and nothing else will fit.

In addition, a recent refurbishment of the patrol room does not meet fire and occupational health and safety standards.

But the State Government's $26,000 grant will change all that.

The surf club has had to match that dollar-for-dollar amount with its own fundraising, but members say the improvements will provide the space needed for a long and prosperous future.
