Clothing fire sparks warning

Posted October 10, 2008 09:46:00

The Fire Service is warning home owners to keep lighters and matches away from children.

The warning comes after fire destroyed a house in Lamprill Circle, Gagebrook late yesterday afternoon.

The Fire Service says initial information suggests a child had set fire to clothing in a bedroom.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

Fire has destroyed the scorer's booth at the Dodges Ferry football oval south-east of Hobart.

A stolen car was also set alight at the scene.

The Fire Service says the blaze was deliberate.

Police are investigating.
