Salvos highlight help for struggling residents

The Salvation Army says many New South Wales mid-north coast residents are struggling in the current economic climate.
Spokesman Jed Oldfield says this week's interest rate cut will help ease the pressure on families, but times are still tough.
He says the Salvos do offer financial advice and support.
"The financial advice that we give is a money care adviser that can give people advice through the Salvation Army for mortgages and such, but that's mainly for rural communities and rural families, so if you are having any hardship and you want to speak to someone about financial counselling, contact the Salvation Army and they'll be able to advise you on who to speak to," he said.
Envoy Oldfield says people should not feel they have to suffer alone.
"Often we get a case where people will try and tough it out, often it's people who are too proud to ask for help, so what we say, is if you are doing it tough, don't sit alongside and try and tough it out on your own, give us a call and we are more than happy to help you out, every interview we do is confidential," he said.
