Salvos to offer money management lessons

Posted October 10, 2008 13:33:00

The Salvation Army in Townsville will soon be providing a new service called 'money care' for people in need of financial counselling.

Salvation Army Major Bruce Harmer says when times are tight people need to be vigilant with their spending.

He says money care is a key service that will hopefully be available before Christmas.

"The people who are finding it difficult will be able to come to us and we'll have a look at their income and their outgoings and see if we can support them in some way to find a way to manage within their means to make ends meet," he said.

He says the goal is "not just giving people stuff to get them out of trouble, but to help them find away to not to get into trouble".
