The Australian Federal Police say they will deploy five forensic specialists to Nepal this evening to identify and recover the bodies of two Australians killed in a light plane crash on Wednesday.

Twenty-four-year-old Chalene Zamudio and 31-year-old Andrew McLeod were killed along with 16 other passengers when their plane crashed in thick fog while attempting to land at an airport near Mount Everest.

The specialists will work alongside a German forensic team that is identifying and recovering 12 Germans who were also killed in the crash.
