Suu Kyi appeals against detention

Posted October 11, 2008 22:50:00

Burma's detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has appealed to the ruling junta against her detention.

A spokesman for the opposition National League for Democracy says the appeal has been sent by the party to military leaders in the administrative capital Naypyidaw.

The Nobel Prize laureate has been confined to her home for most of the past 19 years.

Ms Suu Kyi, who is 63, rarely meets anyone except her lawyer and doctor.
