North Queensland forward Carl Webb has been charged with drink driving after his wedding on the weekend.

The Cowboys have confirmed he was charged on Saturday morning as he was returning to the reception to help clean up.

"I wish to apologise to everyone involved at the Cowboys, including our sponsors and fans for putting myself in this situation," Webb said in a statement.

"In no way do I condone drink driving and I have learnt a valuable lesson.

"In hindsight I should have had someone else drive the car back to the reception location for the clean up."

Cowboys chief executive officer Peter Parr says the State of Origin and Test forward has made a serious misjudgement and must now take responsibility for his actions.

He is due to appear in court next month.
