Outback Qld soaks up downpour

Posted October 13, 2008 09:25:00

Parts of western Queensland have received a drenching over the weekend.

The weather bureau says the highest officials falls included 47 millimetres at Aramac and 43mm at Barcaldine.

Longreach received 23mm, Blackall 32mm and Mitchell also recorded 68mm over the past week.

Grazier Andy Dexter from Avington Station between Blackall and Isisford says 75mm fell at his place during a wild storm.

"It was a terrible wild storm, the biggest storm that we've had here for many, many years. It blew off awnings, there's tree downs, made a fair mess around the house here, but nothing really structural," he said.

"All rain is welcome. Lovely, perfect it was. It was starting to dry off again and it just gave it that welcome boost again."
