Car torched in Quarry Hill

Posted October 13, 2008 10:19:00

Bendigo police were kept busy with fires, thefts, burglary and vandalism at the weekend.

A car was set alight in a car park in Gladstone Street at Quarry Hill yesterday morning.

Windscreens were smashed with bricks in Bendigo East and Strathdale, and another vehicle was extensively scratched at Epsom.

In Spring Gully, a man woke early yesterday to find a man with a torch in his bedroom, but the intruder fled.

Burglars who stole property from a house in Argus Court, Eaglehawk, early on Sunday morning, are blamed for setting the building alight, but firefighters managed to contain the outbreak quickly.

Sergeant Tony Kekich says a cyclist suffered a shoulder injury when he was hit by a beer bottle thrown from a vehicle in High Street at Golden Square on Friday night.

"The likelihood of injury there is very high indeed, firstly particularly if he had come off his bike from being struck or the shattering glass could have caused injury to him, but luckily it wasn't as serious as it could have been," he said.
