Police have confirmed a circular metal object has been found inside a crocodile during the investigation into a missing tourist in far north Queensland.

Sixty-two-year-old Arthur Booker disappeared from the Endeavour River near Cooktown earlier this month.

Police say the object was found in a crocodile that was captured and X-rayed but they cannot verify it is a wedding band belonging to Mr Booker.

More tests will be conducted.
