Rain, snow melt helps boost lake levels

Posted October 13, 2008 15:00:00

There has been a small turnaround in the level of New South Wales high country lakes.

The latest report released by Snowy Hydro says storages have received above average inflows due to good rain and an increased snow melt.

The increase inflows have caused slight rises in the Jindabyne and Eucumbene lakes and these are expected to rise further as the remainder of the snow melts over the next month.

However, the report warns that even though there has been an increase in levels, storages are still at low levels.

It is expected that it will take several years of above average inflows and good snow seasons to return levels to normal.
