Trading halt for iron ore miner

Posted October 13, 2008 15:32:00

Atlas Iron has halted trading on the stock exchange for the second time in a week.

The iron ore explorer was expected to begin operations at its Pardoo mine as early as last Thursday after receiving final environmental approval 10 days ago.

Last Wednesday, the company announced two new hematite discoveries at the site.

Atlas fully owns the Pardoo iron ore project, 75 kilometres from Port Hedland.

The trading halt is expected to be lifted by Tuesday or when a market announcement is made regarding Pardoo's approval status.
