Museum change draws big response

Posted October 13, 2008 16:01:00

More than 400 responses have been received from the public on plans for a new Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart.

The State Government has unveiled plans to integrate the Dunn Place Car Park into the museum and replace a 1960's gallery extension with a new building.

The Museum's program manager Peter West says about 95 per cent of community response has been positive.

"As to ideas that people have come up with, or suggestions that they've made, there was some discussion about car parking, there was a bit of discussion about the 1966 building but there really hasn't been that many things thrown up that we didn't sort of already have on our radar," Mr West said.

The museum is still working on how to fund the development.
