Queensland police believe human remains founds in a crocodile captured in the state's far north are those of missing tourist Arthur Booker.

Mr Booker, 62, went missing on the Endeavour River in Cooktown almost two weeks ago.

He was checking crab pots at the time of his disappearance.

Authorities captured three crocodiles for testing.

Today police confirmed that material found in one of the animals - a 4.5-metre crocodile - was found to be male human remains.

Police say further DNA testing is required to identify the remains.
