Rudd still makes better Prime Minister: polls

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull have both improved their standing with voters in the latest opinion poll.

The Newspoll in The Australian newspaper shows the number of people satisfied with Mr Rudd's performance has increased by 6 per cent.

Mr Turnbull's standing in the better prime minister stakes has improved two per cent to 26 per cent.

Of those polled, 54 per cent think Mr Rudd makes a better prime minister, the same number as a poll taken three weeks ago.

On two-party preferred terms, Labor's lead over the Coalition is unchanged at 55 per cent to 45 per cent.
