New grain brokerage for farmers

Posted October 14, 2008 09:35:00

The Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) has announced a new grain brokerage service for Victorian grain growers.

It has been set up through the VFF's alliance with an independent provider of grower services.

Growers will have to pay for the service which is designed to give farmers access to market information.

Geoff Nalder from the VFF says it will help farmers in the transition from a regulated to a deregulated grains market.

"We consider that it certainly will help in that area. Not only have we moved from a regulated wheat marketing environment to a deregulated wheat marketing environment, there's now multiple purchases that we'll be quoting prices at at harvest time for. Wheat and as well as for other grain types," he said.
