Militia leader arrested by Sudan

Posted October 14, 2008 11:08:00

The authorities in Sudan have confirmed that they have arrested a militia leader wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes in Darfur.

The Sudanese justice minister says an investigation into alleged crimes committed by Ali Mohamed Ali Abdel-Rahman, known as Ali Kushayb, is drawing to a close.

International prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest last year, but Sudan has refused to cooperate with the International Criminal Court.
