Moree police consider industrial unrest in push for more staff

Posted October 14, 2008 12:50:00

Moree police seem set to begin industrial action later this week after the breakdown of talks to improve staffing levels.

The police association is pressing for 12 extra officers and more support staff for a station it says can receive around the same number of calls for help as some commands in Sydney.

The union's western area executive member, Robert Dunn, says the department's management is pressing for more up-to-date figures to support staff demands.

He says members will meet on Thursday to discuss industrial action.

"We're still working on data we believe is a true reflection of our workload," he said.

"Unfortunately the HR [human resources] branch is looking for something more recent, but to date there's no system that will accurately report it."
