Weather station staff cuts suspended: union

Posted October 14, 2008 14:37:00

The Public and Commercial Services Union says planned staff cuts by the Bureau of Meteorology at the Moree Weather Station have been temporarily suspended.

Jobs at weather stations throughout the country, including one of two positions at the Moree bureau, are set to go when new automated technology is installed.

The union's president, Louise Persse, says a decision about the staff cuts have been rolled into ongoing enterprise bargaining discussions.

She says the union will meet the bureau during the next few weeks.
