Gurley Post Office to shut

Posted October 14, 2008 14:40:00

The Gurley Post Office in north-west New South Wales is to close later this month.

Australia Post says the service station that houses the licensed service is due to close at the end of October.

Australia Post's Scott McIntyre says while it is continuing negotiations to find alternative space, it is also planning to institute roadside delivery services to begin on November 3.

"That means all people in the town will get a street delivery. To facilitate that, we're letting people know they'll have to erect a letterbox on the road near the boundary of their property," he said.

"We'll try to make this as smooth as we can for Gurley residents and we're asking them to contact us if they have any queries."
