Cassio set to commit to Adelaide

Posted October 14, 2008 15:22:00

Brazilian import Cassio looks set to stay with Adelaide United.

Cassio is likely to extend his deal at the club once a hectic schedule of A-League matches and the Asian Champions League are out of the way.

Cassio says re-signing is a show of faith in the Reds.

"Always my first option in Australia, always Adelaide United because [the club] opened the doors for me here," he said.

"Everybody knows me here in Australia and Asia because I play for Adelaide United and I need respect for this club."

He said the deal is imminent but he does not want to distract from the club's focus on the second leg of its Champions League semi-final.

"Too close, I prefer talk with this after we have the games, because we have three important games against Queensland, against the Uzbekistan team and against Perth Glory after," he said.
