Australian centre Justin Hodges will miss the Rugby League World Cup with a shoulder injury.

The Brisbane Broncos say Hodges will have surgery next week, but should be fit for the start of the 2009 season.

The Broncos are now represented in the Kangaroos squad by only one player, club and Australia captain Darren Lockyer.

Australia is expected to name his replacement tomorrow.
