A Muslim convert has admitted launching a failed suicide bomb attack on a busy family restaurant in England.

Muslim convert Nicky Reilly pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to attacking a chain restaurant with a home-made bomb.

Reilly, who appeared under the name Mohammad Rashid Saeed-Alim, used the internet to research how to make bombs.

When he attempted to assemble a home-made bomb in a toilet cubicle at the restaurant, it exploded in his hands. He was the only person injured in the failed attack.

Reilly apparently has learning difficulties and police believe he was "preyed upon and radicalised by others".

He will be sentenced next month.
