Art auction raises $250k for Indigenous health care

An auction of Aboriginal art in Melbourne has raised more than $250,000 for research into Indigenous health.
Proceeds from the sale of the 14 artworks will go towards the Darwin-based Menzies School of Health Research.
The school's director, Professor Jonathan Carapetis, says he is delighted by the amount raised.
Professor Carapetis says the money will help improve children's health.
"This money is all dedicated to child health research, Aboriginal child health at the Menzies School of Health Research," he said.
"Within that we'll be looking at a number of different programs around preventing skin infections, preventing ear disease, perhaps preventing rheumatic fever - there's a range of programs that we intend to use these funds for."
