ACT Brumbies winger Clyde Rathbone has been approached to try out for the Australian bobsleigh team for the Winter Olympics.
The 27-year-old has revealed he was sent an email by Olympian Jeremy Rolleston who was looking for potential sliders.
"I wasn't sure if the email I got was a bit of a gee-up or if he was being serious," Rathbone said.
"Then he phoned me and said he was doing a bit of a search around for some people to be involved in the Australian bobsledding team.
"So that was a bit of a bolt from the blue but it certainly piqued my interest."
Rathbone says the idea is worth considering.
"I don't know if I would be available, just based on the fact that I'm contracted," he said.
"It's hard now to find a window of time to do the training and the amount of effort I guess that's required to get to the Olympics.
"But it's the type of opportunity that doesn't come around everyday, so it's something to think about."
He says it is good to have options for the future.
"It'll sit down and work out exactly if it's something that I want to do either now or when my contract comes to an end," he said.
Meanwhile Rathbone says he is fit and ready for the new Super 14 season.
"I got through the first week of preseason ... which was a really tough week but I've pulled up really well," he said.
"I'm really happy with how I'm going personally but also how the guys responded to the first week of pre-season."
