A man from Warrnambool will face court next year, charged with child sex offences.

Police say the 41-year-old was arrested late yesterday, and is facing three charges of sexual penetration of a child under 16.

Police allege a five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted.

The man has been remanded in custody to face Warrnambool Magistrates Court in February.
