Carer June lashes out at attacker

Carer Jane says attack victim cried himself to sleep after the assault

The carer of an intellectually disabled man who was robbed on a Perth street says the victim is petrified and cried himself to sleep last night.

The 22-year-old man received facial injuries in the attack.

The man was walking along Urana Road in Armadale early last night when he was approached by a man who demanded his wallet.

He was hit on the head and fell to the ground before being robbed.

The man's carer, June, says it is possible the offender targeted him because of his disability.

"He's just scared out of his wits," she said.

"I mean he has worked very very hard. He doesnt get a big income but he's saved for all of these things that have been stolen from him.

"He's just really really torn up.

"How do you trust people. Everyone's got children, you're out there in the middle of the day. You assume it's safe.

"I mean all he's doing is coming home from work, he's minding his own business

"I think its absolutely disgusting.

"If you want talent then go home and earn it like the rest of us. You don't need to pick on someone just because you want something that they've got.

"He's absolutely petrified, he's been crying the whole night, he's just gaining his independence."

Armadale Detectives say the man is described as Aboriginal, about 175cm tall, with curly black hair and a goatee style beard and was wearing a red jumper at the time.
