Sydney police hunt 80yo after shooting

Police say they are searching for an 80-year-old man after a shooting at an apartment block at Surry Hills in inner Sydney.

Officers say they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the lower stomach after they were called to a unit in Belvoir Street just after 7:00pm yesterday.

The man is undergoing surgery at St Vincent's Hospital and is in a stable condition.

Police say they are looking for an white 80-year-old man with tattooed forearms who is possibly armed with a handgun.

They are urging members of the public not to approach the man, but say anyone with information on the shooting should contact Crime Stoppers.
