Man pleads guilty to train sex attack

Posted November 25, 2008 13:03:00

A man has pleaded guilty in Wollongong District Court to sexually assaulting a woman on a train between Wollongong and Unanderra earlier this year.

David Grooms, 22, was charged with the aggravated sexual assault of a 40-year-old woman travelling on a train in March.

But the Oak Flats man pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of sexual assault yesterday.

Agreed facts say the man had been drinking and had told friends he had been smoking cannabis.

He approached the victim several times at Wollongong train station - each time she ignored him.

They boarded the same train where the sexual assault occurred.

He remains in custody to be sentenced on February 13.
