Flames steal win over AIS

Posted November 26, 2008 23:34:00

Sydney Uni has come from behind to score a 62-59 win over the AIS in their WNBL match in Canberra tonight.

The AIS led for all but the final two-minutes of the match but Eva Afeaki and Alicia Poto again put in strong performances to drag the Flames over the line.

Afeaki landed 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, while Poto finished with 18 points and four steals.

The lead changed several times in the closing minutes but with eight seconds on the clock, the AIS were forced to foul Poto.

She calmly slotted both free throws to take the lead out to three points and secure Sydney's second win over the AIS this season.

The points were spread across the AIS players, with Rachel Jarry netting 13 and Stephanie Cumming 11.
