Police say it is possible that a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Paralowie house that was destroyed by fire this morning.

A mother and her young child were treated for smoke inhalation, while six other children in the house were uninjured.

A dog was also rescued from the house.

Firefighters were called to Arrow Crescent just before 4:00am but were unable to save the house.

The damage bill is estimated to be $200,000.

Two men in a dark sedan with a loud exhaust were seen near the house just before the fire broke out.
