Police make arrests in relation to youth gang attacks

Posted November 27, 2008 10:15:00

Northern Territory police say they've "spoken" to 40 young people in Palmerston as well as making six arrests in relation to youth gang attacks.

Seven people have recently been seriously assaulted and robbed by gangs of up to 15 youths roaming the city at night.

As a political row continues to simmer over the number of police who were patrolling at the time, officers are appealing for more public help.

Watch Commander Chris Linden says police need more information to clamp down on the gangs.

"There must be people out there that know who these offenders are and we want to get them off the streets. So if anybody has any information that would lead to the identity of others that have been involved in these things we'd certainly like to hear from the public."
