Fire alarm forces evacuation of Rudd media event

Posted November 27, 2008 10:35:00

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was among a large group of people forced to evacuate a building near Canberra after a fire alarm went off this morning.

Automatic sprinklers flooded the stage where Mr Rudd was due to open the Asia-Pacific military centre in Queanbeyan.

About 100 people were forced to leave the building, many copping a spray from the fire extinguishers.

The Prime Minister is now holding the media event on the stairs of the building.
