Yuendumu enjoys pool paradise

Posted November 27, 2008 10:48:00

The manager of a new remote community pool says having a pool is like having a little piece of paradise.

Darren Talbert from Yuendumu says the pool, which opened a month ago, has become a hub for the whole community.

Mr Talbert says it is getting up to 40 children at the pool on school days and up to 100 each day on weekends.

He says the pool has made Yuendumu a better place to live.

"It doesn't matter where you go in Australia if you've got a pool ... it will attract people all the time and it's mostly sort of a family orientated thing as well- I mean people can bring their families here, sit down, let the babies swim, let the kids swim, it's like an all round family day," he said.
