ACT telecommunications company TransACT is talking up its bid for a local broadband network.
The company is one of several groups making a pitch to the Federal Government.
TransACT executive Ivan Slavich says the proposal would initially provide the ACT with world class services to more than 98 per cent of homes.
Mr Slavich says TransACT could start rolling out the fibre network immediately.
"In new estates we'll be rolling out fibre to the home which is the absolute ants pants, the best broadband available it's fibre all the way to the home where Transact has its existing footprint which is very very substantial," he said.
"We'll be upgrading to the latest technology which will effectively turbo charge that broad band service."
Mr Slavich says he is surprised by Telstra's approach to the national broadband network bid but that it is up to the Government to assess it.
"If I was on an expert panel and I was comparing a 13 page document with a 1,000 page document, one just needs to make an assessment as to who's serious and who's not," he said.
