Police urge vigilance after Miepoll burglary

Posted November 27, 2008 13:19:00

Benalla police are urging residents to be aware of unusual cars driving in their area after a burglary at a property in Miepoll, near Violet Town, at the weekend.

More than $20,000 worth of property was stolen from sheds on the farm, including four motorbikes, a large trailer, a block splitter and power tools.

Detective Senior Constable Peter Clifford says if people notice cars they do not usually see, they should write down the details of the vehicle.

He says it is unlikely the thieves randomly picked the property.

"I think they may have some knowledge that there was going to be no-one there and therefore were able to go about stealing from the various sheds on the property and so they had plenty of time, I think, to carry out the theft - it's also an isolated area," he said.
