The State Government says a Queensland Health report shows the rates of some illnesses fluctuate in Gladstone but they are not consistently above the state average.

The Government investigated whether industrial pollution was affecting the health of people in the central Queensland city after residents raised concerns.

Health Minister Stephen Robertson has told Parliament the overall health figures in Gladstone are in line with state averages.

"There was some fluctuation in hospitalisation rates for heart disease, chronic airway disease, respiratory tract infections and diabetes, but rates for these conditions were not consistently greater than overall Queensland rates," he said.
